Screenwriting

2025 became a validating year for Tarannum’s writing journey.

• God’s Office
Winner, SWA Pitch Fest 2025
Selected from 600 plus entries, top 25 writers

Her original series concept God’s Office was selected as a winner at the SWA Pitch Fest. Over two days, she pitched the series to production houses, OTT platforms, and talent management companies, engaging in conversations around long form storytelling, tone and world building.

• Matsyagandha
Semi finalist, Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Contest 2025

Shortly after, her script Matsyagandha advanced to the semi finals of the Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Contest, placing it within an international screenwriting context.

Writing is not just a medium to tell stories for Tarannum Pasricha. It is a form of therapy. She believes her hand leads directly to her subconscious and that the characters and situations she creates emerge from a deeply internal place rather than from intellectual construction alone.

Her writing is closely tied to her visual language. This began with a Hindi poem titled Ek Lakdi Thi which she later adapted into a short film with the same title or Imprint in English. The film marked a turning point toward more personal storytelling and continues to inform her approach as a writer/director. The film can be viewed below or via the link here.

She has recently shot her next short film, Woh Pehli Baar, which is currently in post production.

Tarannum is presently focused on developing original screenplays and series concepts that explore interior worlds, belief systems and emotional transformation.

Poetry

Poetry forms a quiet part of Tarannum’s writing practice and has often been a starting point for longer narrative work. A few selected poems are included below.
